Kim Reitterer President, PE, LEED AP BD+C
Ms. Reitterer is the founder and majority owner of Elm Engineering, Inc. She has over 30 years of experience auditing and designing energy-efficient lighting, daylighting, lighting controls, and electrical systems for a variety of building types. She performs energy audits and measurement and verification of lighting and electrical systems. Renewable energy systems designs include photovoltaic systems, solar thermal, wind, geothermal, waste to heat and waste to cooling systems.
She has designed Microgrids using photovoltaic systems and local distributed power generation. She performs facility audits for lighting and power energy and is an award-winning lighting designer. Ms. Reitterer is a frequent speaker at local and national conferences on microgrids, energy audits, lighting, sustainability, and power systems.
William Aldridge PE, QCxP
Mr. Aldridge is the mechanical department manager for Elm Engineering, Inc. He performs mechanical commissioning, and is a Qualified Commissioning Provider. He is a results-driven professional engineer with an exemplary record of meeting project deadlines.
Mr. Aldridge has over 15 years of experience in mechanical systems commissioning, engineering, construction, and project management. Mr. Aldridge’s experience includes a large number of central chiller and boiler plants, ice storage, geothermal, variable refrigerant, solar absorption chillers, radiant heating, and solar water heating. His expertise includes project scheduling, cost estimation, life cycle cost analysis, system narratives, energy analysis and load calculations for air side, hydronic, steam and DX systems, and the application of Senate Bill 668 for energy conservation for State projects.
Derk Beutler CPD, CET, ARCSA AP
Mr. Beutler manages the fire protection and plumbing team of engineers and designers. Mr. Beutler is an expert in fire sprinkler system and rainwater catchment systems. He has over 27 years of experience in fire protection and plumbing systems design and construction.
An important and highly desirable expertise comes from his experience as a licensed North Carolina Fire Sprinkler Contractor. His fire protection capabilities include wet, dry, pre-action, deluge fire sprinkler systems, life safety alarms, and special systems including dry and wet chemical, clean agent, and foam. He specializes in rainwater catchment system planning and design. His plumbing capabilities include cold and hot water, waste and vent, storm water, and specialty design for compressed air, fuel gas, medical gas, and vacuum systems.
